The Difference Is Quality

For more than a century, New York’s Union Ironworkers and Contractors are making a difference in the buildings we work and live in every day.  From iconic buildings to landmark hotels, museums, stadiums, schools and hospitals, New York City’s historic skyline is being built with the help of Union Ironworkers and Contractors.

Every where you look, from our sports stadiums, shopping malls, bridges, office and industrial buildings, you can see the quality work of skilled ironworkers.  We are proud to stand behind some of our City’s most recognizable structures, old and new, including the 7 World Trade Center, the Hearst Tower, Yankee Stadium, the Chrysler Building and the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Difference is Strength

Proud Union Ironworkers erect the skeletons of structures, set steel rebar in concrete to reinforce structures, and ornament buildings with curtain wall and window wall systems. Ironworking is a multi-faceted trade, led by professionals with skill sets that are always in demand.  Our men and women are the construction trade that welds, reinforces, embellishes and erects structural steel, precast concrete, metal buildings, reinforcing steel, ornamental iron, fabrication, curtain wall, in addition to welding, rigging and machinery moving.  Our highly specialized trade provides a level of craftsmanship that owners and contractors have come to trust.  Union Ironworkers and Contractors are considered one of the most productive workforces, providing value, employment opportunities, fair pay, health and welfare benefits, and continuing safety and training education since 1896.  Our workforce is contributing to our communities and building a better New York.

The Difference is the Workforce

With over 2,800 union members and hundreds of skilled contractors, New York’s Union Ironworkers and Contractors are leading the way to a stronger New York.  New York City & Vicinity Labor-Management Ironworking Partnership is a labor-management partnership comprised of Structural Iron Workers Local Unions Nos. 40 and 361, and Allied Building Metal Industries.  Our highly trained workforce is schooled in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) steel erection standards and undergo mandatory safety programs to ensure excellence in every building and facility. The opportunity of membership has attracted the most diverse unions in the nation. Our workforce rose to the challenge on September 11, 2001, by providing emergency relief to Ground Zero and continues to contribute to rebuilding lower Manhattan-and just as we will take part in building New York's limitless future.
